Manure
Waste

Anaerobic digestion is suitable for virtually any kind of manure and Waste Solutions have explored, tested and implemented solutions for small scale farming as well as very large operations.

The most common types of animal manures for which we have designed facilities include:

  • Dairy
  • Piggery
  • Feed-lot
  • Chicken / Poultry

We are always interested in exploring more unusual or even exotic animal manures. All projects commence with a site specific analysis and we conduct a thorough waste audit in our laboratory evaluating treatment options including co- digestion with other wastes. Because of many variables we always insist on a site visit to develop the most suitable option for each situation. Examples of differences which affect reactor design are housing configuration, manure collection technique (e.g. dry scrape vs. flush systems), frequency, volume of water used, inclusion of bedding materials and proportion of manure collected. For new installations we can also provide advice and design assistance from the perspective of maximising and simplifying energy recovery. For farms with existing waste treatment systems we also have a full suite of retro-fitting options which usually provide a rapid return on investment.
